TBI are delighted to announce that this week we’ve won 3 awards for BBC Radio 2’s ‘D-Day 70 Years On‘ along with Snappin’ Turtle productions.
The awards took place at the BBC’s Radio Theatre and celebrate in-house and collaborative productions. D-Day was recognised in 4 categories during the evening, three of which this game changing production won.
The awards were for ‘Best Technical Production’, ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Most Distinctive Moment Of The Year’. The latter recognised Normandy Veteran, Jim Radford’s original song “The Shores of Normandy.”
Jim was only 15 when he landed on the D-Day beaches but upon visiting them many years later, he was inspired to write this folk song. When he sang ‘The Shores of Normandy’ as part of D-Day: 70 Years On, everyone watching was struck by the rawness of his words and it ended with a full standing ovation.
