CEO and Founding Director
Phil has developed and delivered some of the highest-profile projects across multiple genres and media platforms in the UK and internationally. As well as leading significant factual output he has a specialism in music & entertainment-based events and content - from delivering full symphony orchestra shows to the BBC & Commercial television, to cutting-edge dance programmes for BBC Radio 1 and online. As such he’s worked directly with some of the world's highest profile performers and presenters in some of the most iconic locations.
He began as a BBC Studio Manager trainee. After production across the corporation he moved to Unique Broadcasting rising to Director Of Programmes & overseeing many millions of pounds of production across thousands of hours of output. During his time on the management team the company was listed on AIM. He founded TBI in 2006 to create ‘content that makes a difference’.
Industry roles have included Founding Director and Chair of Audio UK. This involved liaison with the most senior figures in broadcasting and Government. Executive board positions and advisory roles include, or have included, the Department for International Trade Creative Industries Trade Advisory Group' ‘The Educational Recording Agency’, ‘Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club’, ‘Classic Gold Networks’ ‘The Wavendon All Music Foundation’.
Phil is an "Industry Champion" for the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre and takes part in the Speakers For Schools Initiative. Phil was made a Fellow of The Radio Academy in 2016, was given a Lifetime Achievement award for services to broadcasting in 2018 and was awarded an OBE for ‘Services to Radio and Television’ in the 2021 Queens New Year Honours list.
Director of Events
Andrew is a Director of TBI, overseeing the events division of the company. He has created, produced, and delivered live, broadcast and streamed events, concerts, and shows globally for over 20 years. Andrew specialises in producing and project managing large-scale and complex events - broadcast and non-broadcast - at some of the world's most iconic venues - from the Royal Albert Hall to Sydney Opera House; from Red Rocks, Colorado to Wembley Arena.
He manages the TBI events team across a broad portfolio of broadcast and non-broadcast events. Recent highlights for the team include Big Night Of Musicals at the AO Arena, Manchester (BBC One); Team GB Homecoming from Tokyo Olympics at Wembley Arena (BBC One); Paralympian Homecoming from Tokyo Olympics at Wembley Arena (Channel 4); Katherine Jenkins for VE Day 75 at the Royal Albert Hall (streamed globally); the first TikTok Virtual Festival.
Brand clients include the BBC (BBC TV; BBC radio; CBBC), Disney, TikTok, Red Bull, Sky Arts, Classic FM, Magic Radio, Absolute Radio, Planet Rock, and more.
The TBI team have produced concerts working with artists including Robbie Williams, Rag n Bone Man, George Ezra, Josh Groban, Idina Menzel, Gregory Porter, Seal, James Blunt, Van Morrison, Jessie J; Keane; Ronan Keating; Simply Red; Jools Holland; Paul Weller; Katherine Jenkins and many more.
Head of Events
Over the last few years, Nicci has produced live, broadcast and streamed events. Before TBI, Nicci worked at the BBC for 20 years in a number of senior editorial positions and brings that broadcast experience in radio and TV to all the events she manages.
Highlights at TBI include producing a Summer Festival for CBBC and CBeebies, a number of big award and music shows at the Royal Albert Hall and the London Palladium and delivering hybrid events. The last 12 months include producing The Big Night of Musicals (BBC One), Team GB Homecoming from the Tokyo Olympics (BBC One), the Paralympics GB Homecoming (Channel 4) and Musicals: The Greatest Show (BBC One). Nicci is a Fellow of the Radio Academy.
