Outline

To mark 50 years since England's 1966 football World Cup win, TBI held a special event at Wembley Arena. Drama, music, history and sport combined in a once-in-a-lifetime event as we retold the story of the historic final in real time, exactly 50 years to the minute later.

The event combined match footage with compelling stories told by our team of actors, led by Martin Freeman. Special guest appearances included Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst and head of FIFA Gianni Infantino. Our live band, who underscored the whole show, were then joined on stage by the likes of Reef, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Lemar & The Shires to perform the biggest songs from 1966.

The event was broadcast on BBC Radio 2, BBC 5 live, BBC Red Button and in cinemas nationwide.
